- Kuwait

From the 16th - 19th February 2009 all industry eyes will be set on Barcelona, Spain as the city plays host to one of the most elite and prestigious events in the global communications market: the GSMA Mobile World Congress.
Approximately 50,000 attendees are expected to converge on this year's event, which combines the largest mobile industry exhibition with a congress of the most prominent leaders and personalities in the communications world. This is certainly the place to be for operators, VAS providers, equipment vendors and other parties seeking to network and address the industry's most pressing contemporary issues.
Masiya, in a tradition that has spanned a number of consecutive years, is set to be represented at Barcelona by a select group of delegates from both its Kuwait headquarters as well as its Abu Dhabi operation.
States Mr. Ahmed Botaiban - Masiya's Business Development Manager, "As always, we are keenly awaiting all the new services and technology announcements that are sure to be delivered this year." Adds Mr. Botaiban, "However, what remains to be observed this time around - amidst the challenging financial environment - is the means by which organizations and global players will face current speculation, and in what ways business modules will be morphed during these testing times."
In what congress executives describe as being "four days that will entertain, educate and facilitate new business and partnerships", the venue does indeed boast a unique and diversified agenda. In addition to keynote speakers, seminars and workshops, the Mobile Innovation Marketplace provides insight into the latest trends in products and services; featuring a competition in which the very best industry innovators compete for global recognition awards.
The Leadership Summit hosts top CEOs across the board looking to discuss industry priorities with their peers; while the Government Mobile Forum is expected to bring together over 55 Ministers and representatives from 5 continents pressed to route the Telecom industry out of the current financial crisis and to sustaining its long-term growth.
Last, but not least, the Green Power Pavilion is a haven for the community of mobile network operators seeking "greener" alternatives that cut energy costs and heed environmental concerns.
